It did not fit in the ear very well. It hurt when inserted in the ear. It was off by 5 degrees in temperature. I liked the idea of not having to buy expensive plastic covers for the tip and just clean the tip with alcohol each use, but the product did not work.

This is a worthless piece of trash. The battery is constantly running dead and needing to be replaced. The batteries are not cheap. Additionally the reading is not accurate. I have tried temperature readings for myself, my husband, and my two year old son and they are constantly off 3 to 5 degrees with an oral thermometer. When I contacted the company they told me I was just holding the thermometer in the wrong position. This is made in China and is truthfully worth $2 or less. Do not buy this. The Company doesn't stand behing their product and instead wants the consumer to pay for shipping and handling just so they can send you another worthless item. Don't waste your money...

Great Buy for a Great Tool.
This Thermometer is truly very useful. But first I must warn you that its not for lazy folks that refuse to read the MFG instructions. The Samsung Healthy Living TET-01BN Digital Touch less Thermometer Thermometer is used for far more than just taking your sleeping child's temperature with out bothering them. You can also use the unit to measure the Temp of you coffee, or the temp of your bath water, tea, baby bottle etc.. The possibilities are endless..
The important thing to remember, when you use this unit to measure body temperature the unit will tell you the temp of that spot at witch you direct the unit (Ear, Face, etc.) . So its not going to tell you your body temp is 98.6 . It will likely tell you you are 84 or more Degs. This is because your are reading your skins surface temperature. Or your inner ear temperature if you aim the unit in the ear.
This means that you normal body temp when measured at that spot is 84 deg etc.... So if you are hotter than that (normal)reading next time you take it.. Or more importantly if your baby is hotter than the baby's normal temp reading, then you know you may need medical help.
This Unit is designed to tell you the relative temperature of things you point it at. Ears, Bath water etc.. Once you learn how to read and use the unit you will be amazed at all of its uses..

How do you know if someone has a fever? Learn how to take someone's body temperature accurately. Digital Ear Thermometers are much safer than mercury filled glass, the digital display is easy to read, they work quickly and are simple to clean properly. Compared to mercury thermometers they are also far less intrusive. For a few seconds an infrared sensor is positioned precisely to measure the temperature of the ear drum without touching it. Hospitals and health care providers have used them for years. Now the technology has advanced to the point that they are affordable for home users. BUT, no matter how much you pay for your thermometer it is entirely how you use it that provides an accurate temperature reading. Body temperature measurement is a scientific observation requiring careful technique. At stake are the consequences of going to work or to school or even to the hospital, or not. If you are going to use any instrument correctly it is necessary to have excellent instructions and practice. It is also important repeat the readings for an average and discarding of obvious errors. Get at least three good readings. To get the most from your temperature measurements they should be recorded for comparison with other readings. Normal body temperature varies between individuals, with the time of day and with age. A good way to practice with a new ear thermometer is to monitor yourself and other members of your household at different times of day over several days to establish each person's normal range. Then when health is a question you will know how far the temperature is from personal normal and you won't have to figure out the electronic thermometer in a hurry.
Samsung Healthy Living Digital Ear Thermometer model: TET-01BN ([...]) has an excellent owner's manual in English and Spanish. By following the simple instructions most people should get correct temperature readings. This Samsung thermometer goes far beyond a basic model with a high temperature alarm and signals for ready and reading completed. A red light glows at temperatures of 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit and above and a green light below that for quick screening. There is a digital clock, a room temperature thermometer and a nine reading memory. It includes a soft cloth bag for protection between uses and keeping the instructions handy. There is no probe cover required for use. The probe should be cleaned with alcohol on cotton each time. A plastic protective cover for the probe when not in use is provided. The battery, a lithium CR2032, is included and must be inserted under a removable plastic cover before use. In addition this Samsung thermometer can switch to surface scan mode and function like an industrial infrared non-contact thermometer such as the MICROTEMP MT100. The TET-01BN range in scan mode is -7 to +176 degrees Fahrenheit, not as wide a response as the MT100 but adequate for most household uses. You can check temperature of your refrigerator, bath water, baby bottle, lawn chair, patio deck and more.
If you are in a hurry take three readings in the same ear three green lights say go on with your day. One red light or more it is time to make decisions about someone's health and take more readings both now and later and write them down, less than a minute should let you do three readings and write down the average. You have the time and date plus room temperature all on the Samsung thermometer. You must set the time and date to activate these functions. If a doctor visit is ahead then written notes will help when answering questions. A chart such as the one in the TET-01BN Owner's Manuel is an easy way to organize your temperature readings. You and your doctor will need to discuss what is important for a particular person. In less time than it takes to put a hand on a forehead and ask " do you think it"s a fever?" you can take someone's temperature and write it down. With influenza in the wind this is a necessary part of every home health care and first aid kit. Samsung has a long history of producing quality electronic components, equipment and consumer products. At a competitive price of $20 the multi functional Samsung digital ear thermometer is affordable as well as and easy to use.

The most annoying thing about this thermometer are the directions. There are too many features and the lack of buttons makes it nearly impossible to adjust. If they'd remove all the bells and whistles, and just make it simple it would be great. Somehow, my device got switched to centigrade and I could not get is back to fahrenheit even though I had the directions. I finally took the battery out and that reset it. With only two buttons the "press and hold three seconds" then "immediately press" the other button made me loose some hair (because it never worked). I would not recommend this to anyone... get a better model or stick to the old fashioned method.
